How do I edit Templates for Invoices?

< All Topics

To edit the Templates for Invoices, please go to the Menu and select Settings. Once here, scroll down to Templates.

Once here, you can use the drop down on the top right and choose the Invoices module to start making changes and you can edit the Templates.

The recommendation is to pick the template of your preference and then clone it so you can keep the original templates in your Contractor Foreman. To clone a template, click on this icon:

and then edit it.

Once you enter the edit mode, you will be able to pick and choose the information you want to show in your invoices, change the order of the fields and even add custom text on them.

Once done with your Invoice Template, change the name or even select it as the default template and make sure to click on the blue “Save” Button.

Next time you create an Invoice in Contractor Foreman, you will be able to select your preferred template as describe on this article: Basics of Invoices.

How do I show a single line item for my Change Orders in my Invoices instead of the itemized Change Orders?

When adding Change Order items to your invoices, Contractor Foreman allows you to add every single line item within the Change Order to bill partially for them, however not always we want our customers or clients to see in the Invoice the itemized Change Orders, instead some may prefer to see one single line item per Change Order.

In order to achieve this we go to the Change Order Settings. Once here, we go into the edit mode by clicking on the green pencil that is located in the top right side of the screen of the General Settings, as shown below.

Then make sure to turn on the option “Consolidate on Invoice” and then click on the blue Save button.

Steps to create an Invoice for my Change Orders using my Custom Made Template and showing only one line item per Change Order.

Go to the Invoices Module and add a new invoice.

Once here, remember that we can add the Change Order values by importing items from the Schedule of Values.

Select the items that you are going to invoice for and once done, proceed to Save the Invoice and “Submit to Client”.

A new window will pop up, here is where we will select the Template we created in the first part of this Article.

Then, since we changed the settings in the Change Orders module, the invoice will not show all the items imported from the Change Order, instead, just one line item per Change Order as shown below.
