Compliance Notice vs Schedule Notice

< All Topics

Contractor Foreman has 2 different types of prebuilt Notices. Compliance Notice and Schedule Notice. These are commonly used in Construction correspondence.

Many times, a Compliance Form will be sent at the time of or before a Back Charge is made to a Subcontractor or the General Contractor by a Sub. In this case you would write a negative Change Order to cover the cost of correcting the poor work. However, you must give the party you are sending it to a reasonable amount of time to fix the issue.

Compliance Notice: The Compliance Notice has 5 different types of Notices. Out of Scope Work, Out of Compliance Work, Poor Workmanship, Not Meeting Contract Requirements and Other.

Depending on the situation you would choose the Correct Type of Compliance form, complete it and send to the party that is out of compliance.

Example: Subcontractor doing finish work. The finish stain is uneven and blotchy. Sub does not agree to fix it. You would then send that Subcontractor a Compliance Notice with a Type of “Poor Workmanship.” This is then notifying the Sub of the Poor work and is a demand stating they must fix it by a certain date.

Schedule Notice:  The Schedule Notice has 3 Types of Notices. Schedule Update, Schedule Delay by Subcontractor, Schedule delay by Weather.

Depending on the situation you would choose the Correct Type of Schedule Notice to be sent.

Schedule Update: This is normally sent when there is a need for a sudden schedule update that needs attention immediately.

Schedule Delay by Subcontractor: This is used when one specific Subcontractor is causing a delay to the project. This would be sent along with a portion of the Schedule showing where and how they are delaying the project.
